The Rolex Yacht-Master for men flaunts an Oyster case of 40mm with a rotating bezel and raised-numerals. 
  • Like other Rolex sports watches, the dial of the Yacht-Master also comes with Mercedes-style hands and triangular/baton/round luminous indexes. 
  • The brand initially crafted the Yacht-Master in yellow gold and bi-tone yellow gold versions. However, Rolex replaced these versions with bi-tone Everose gold, steel and full Everose gold models. 
  • The Everose Yacht-Master was the first timepiece to flaunt the Oysterflex bracelet, featuring a metal band wrapped in the black rubber.
  • However, the steel versions of the Rolex Yacht-Master feature platinum bezels.
  • The Yacht-Master was available in 29mm and35mm versions.

On the other hand, the Rolex Yacht-Master II watch is available in a more substantial 44mm Oyster case. 

The watch case sports a blue Cerachrom bezel, except the white gold model that comes with a platinum bezel. 
The Yacht-Master dials originally featured pencil-style blue hands along with square indexes. 

However, Rolex upgraded the dial in 2017 offering Mercedes-style hands and additional baton as well as triangle indexes at 12 and 6 o’clock respectively.

The Rolex Yacht-Master and Yacht-Master II watches are pretty different in functionality. While the Yacht-Master runs on Rolex Calibre 3135, the Rolex Yacht-Master II is powered by the Calibre 4161. And, the Calibre 4161 movement is one of the most complex movements of Rolex to date. 
  • The dial of the Yacht-Master flaunts centre hours, minutes and seconds-hand as well as a date window at 3 o’clock. 
  • On the contrary, the Calibre 4161 also offers the Yacht-Master II watch a regatta countdown with proprietary mechanical memory along with on-the-fly synchronisation.
  • Moreover, the bezel is named as Ring Command not only for its outer appearance and functionality but also, because it controls the movement within the case. 
  • While the Yacht-Master Calibre 3135 movement has 48hours of power reserve, the Calibre 4161 offers a 72-hour power reserve.
